Why Apply for a certificate of good conduct?

As part of our commitment to protecting children and young people, all volunteers working with these groups are required to provide a criminal record (Führungszeugnis).

The following two laws require this document:

  • § 72a of the Child and Youth Protection Act (SGB VIII): Volunteers working directly with children and young people are required to provide a criminal record to ensure the protection of minors.

  • § 30a of the Criminal Records Act (BZRG): Volunteers may generally be required to provide a criminal record as a condition for participating in volunteer work, to ensure transparency and security.

Verifying Personal Data on the Dar Portal

Before submitting your application for a volunteer certificate, ensure the following information are correct:

  • Date of birth

  • Address

Updating your data through the App.dar-ev.de portal ensures the accuracy of your volunteer certificate and its acceptance by German authorities.

How to Request a Volunteer Certificate from DAR:

To obtain a certificate of good conduct free of charge, volunteers can request a volunteer certificate from Dar Association. The process requires the following:

  • Completing the Volunteer Certificate Request Form to Obtain a Criminal Record (VCC) to confirm your participation in volunteer activities.

  • After submitting the document, a volunteer certificate will be sent to help you obtain a free of cost Good conduct certificate.

**Notes when applying in both ways:

  1. Request an Extended Criminal Record: Make sure to request the criminal record for dealing with children and youth (the extended certificate).

  2. Send the certificate to your home address: You must specify that the criminal record be sent to your personal address.

  3. Request a Fee Waiver: As a volunteer, you must request a fee waiver using the volunteer certificate you received from Dar Association.

How to apply for a criminal record

There are two ways to apply for a certificate of good conduct:

  • Online application:

  • Paper application

    • In Munich, you can book an appointment at your local registry office to submit your criminal record application in person via the link: Terminvereinbarung - To book an appointment

Online Process Step by Step Guide:

  • Click on Führungszeugnis hier online beantragen

  • Select Ich beantrage das Führungszeugnis für mich selbst

  • Have your personal ID ready to read the info via BundID, this step will automatically fill in the data of the applicant. you can choose to do it from Laptop or smartphone

  • Afterwards

Procedures after receiving the criminal record:

Upon receipt of the criminal record:

  • Submit the document: Please send a high-quality photocopy of the document to [ hr@dar-ev.de ].

  • Reviewing the document: The Human Resources Committee will review the record and update its expiration date in your account in the association's database.

  • Expiration reminder: We will monitor the expiration date of the record and send you a reminder three months before it expires to reapply.

Note: The document will be valid for three years, and this period is subject to change based on changes in German laws or as decided by the association's management.
